Project Gaia is about the integrated management of specially protected coastal areas in the Maltese Islands. In this context, the Gaia Foundation manages the Għajn Tuffieħa area in Malta and Ramla Bay in Gozo. As Natura 2000 sites they form part of the Natura 2000 European network of protected areas.
Other projects run by the Gaia Foundation include the Elysium project which focuses on biodiversity, the propagation of trees and shrubs that are native to the Maltese Islands as well as on the ecological restoration of degraded habitats. This project is centred around Gaia’s tree and plant nursery, in which some very rare species are grown from seed or cutting. Plants and trees can be purchased for moderate prices. Trees can also be adopted here.

Among other projects, the Gaia Foundation also manages olive groves in Malta and Gozo, which it uses to showcase the art of organic olive oil production. Its tasty olive oil is also sold at the Elysium Centre.
The Gaia Foundation also organises guided walks to the Ghajn Tuffieha watchtower and the surrounding area
In the summer, the Gaia Foundation also organises activites at Għajn Tuffieħa beach as well as at Ramla in the context of the Blue Flag eco-label. Many activities are organised in collaboration with other non-profit NGOs, particularly Sharklab Malta.

The Elysium Centre can be visited from Monday to Saturday from 8 am until 2 pm.
